Infill Design Challenge 2.0By Bluegreen Architecture
"Mosaic" is an innovative architectural project that emerged as the runner-up in a competition focusing on urban growth and housing affordability. The project showcases how thoughtful architectural developments can foster an integrated sense of community, diminish exclusions, and contribute to gentrification in middle-class neighborhoods. By replacing fragility in aging single-family areas with a mix of unique, sustainable housing options, "Mosaic" not only increases density but also accommodates varying household incomes, family sizes, and mobility needs. The design revolves around a collection of ground-oriented dwellings with a tiered courtyard, promoting social interaction, daylight, and passive ventilation. Sustainability is prioritized through energy-efficient building envelopes, solar voltaic roof panels, and ductless-split heating and cooling systems. With a focus on privacy, security, and stormwater management, "Mosaic" seeks to create a vibrant, diverse, and livable urban infill community for the future.
